2023年1月10日、Jeff Beck氏が、細菌性髄膜炎にて死去した。昨年はライブも行っているので、急死だった模様だ。ジェフと言えば、ヤードバーズで活躍したブリティッシュロックの三大ギタリストの一人。70年代には、ジェフベックグループやBBA、トミーボーリン譲りのソロでFusion路線を突き進み、ボーカルなしのロックをヒットさせた。近年は、70台後半とは思えぬ、ルックスで現役ギタリストとして活躍していたが、このほどの悲報となった。78才だった。

Live in Maui
Jimi Hendrix のLive in Maui がリリースされた。
July 30th 1970, Haleakala Crater Maui Hawai での屋外ライブを収録したものだ。
悪名高い、Rainbow Bridge という映画にほんの少しだけライブ収録された。
Haleakala ハレアカラは、マウイ島にある国立公園にもなっている、自然豊かなところで、
ホノルルのあるオアフ島からは100キロくらい離れたところだ。
観客が異常に少ないのに驚かされる。おそらく、一般には告知されなかったのであろう。
地元のごく限られたひとしか招待されなかったようだ。
ジミのパフォーマンスは、リラックスそのもので、安心して聴いていられるが、この時期特有の、音と曲もあってか、緊張感はない。
音質は、SB録音としては、極めて一般的な音質で、臨場感に乏しい音だ。
新規収録の映像がBlue-Rayで付属していて、Music,Money,Madnessといったタイトルで作成されている。例によって関係者のインタビュー映像とライブが収録されている。
クオリティは、プロ収録としては、1970年という時代にしてもお粗末なもものだ。どういう事情かわからないが、All Cameras stopped という静止画キャプションが頻繁に出現し、まともに、一曲がフル映像で収録されているもとは、2，3曲しかない。
毎年のように新しく、リリースされている、JimiのExperience Hendrixシリーズだが、
死後、50年の記念すべき？今年2020年は、去年のフィルモアイースト4CDに比べるとちょっと寂しい。
Royal Albert Hall ,London 1969年の関係の音源と映像は、いつになるのであろうか。
Artworkは、4つ折りになる珍しいものだが、扱いは余りいいものではない。高さも普通のCDより少し大きい。

元Gods, Uriah heepのKen Hensley氏が死去。
11月4日、元Gods, Uriah heepのKen Hensley氏が死去した。享年75才。
ブリティッシュハードロックの偉大なキーボ―ディストだった。作曲家としても、才能を発揮した。July Moring ,Rain, The Wizard などの名曲を残した。
特に私にとって思い出深いのは、Album "Demons and Wizard" 邦題「悪魔と魔法使い」だ。15才の頃、買ったこのアルバムは、思い出深い1枚だ。
また、彼はKeyboard だけでなく、スライドギターの名手としても知られており、マルチプレイヤーとして有能な存在だった。82年にHeepを脱退した後は、ソロとして活躍したが、やはり全盛期は、Heep時代の70年代だった。
彼の弾くハモンドは、Deep Purple のジョンロードと並んで、ブリティッシュハードの正当的な音を紡いでいた。
つい最近Kerslakeが逝ったばっかりだったのに。
さようなら。偉大なKeyboardist. R.I.P. Ken Hensley.

ABBY ROAD から50年
2019年9月26日、BeatlesのAbby Roadが英国で発売されてから、50年という節目の時を迎えた。（日本での発売は同年の10月21日）
Abby Road 50周年記念アニバリーエディションというのが、発売された。早速Spotityで聞いてみた。確かにニューステレオミックスと銘打っているだけに、音質は向上していて、今まで聞こえなかった音もはっきり聞き取れる。しかし、私には別物に聞こえてしまった。東芝EMIから70年代に発売されていたLPレコードを聴きこんでいるためであろうか？
この、東芝EMI版LP"Abby Road"には特別の思い入れがある。それは、初めて自分のお金で買ったLPだったからだ。レコードは以前にも買っていたのだが、LPは当時は高額で中学生の私になかなか手を出せず、シングルEPを買っていたのである。当時は音楽をきくのはEPが一般的で、LPは高級品をいうイメージだった。ビートルズも"Hey Jude"や"Let It Be"といった有名曲は、鶴瀬のロック好きのお兄さんが経営していたレコード店で買っていた。しかし、 "Abby Road" には"Hey Jude"や"Let It Be"といった超有名曲は入っていない。つまり、LP全体で楽しむ媒体なのだった。
このことが、私の音楽人生を一変させた。今まで、EPしか買えなかったのが、LPでないと駄目だ、となったのである。これ以降EPは殆ど買わなくなっていった。いわばLPを買うようになった私にとって記念碑てきな存在なのである。今でもこのLPは、買い替えとかはしておらず当時の状態のまま所有している。帯は当時の習慣で捨ててしまっている。また中学の友人の"I.K"君に貸したときの自転車から転んで落とした傷も（ジャケット裏面）もそのままだ。かなり聴いたり、貸したりした割には、LPの盤面にキズはなく良好な状態だ。勿論自分にとっては思い入れのあるLPでも、市場価格的にはたいしたことがないので、売ったりすることもなかった。
肝心な音のほうだが、やはり聞き込んだ音は、最新のミックス音よりも聞こえない音があるものの、これはこれで、私にとっての"Abby Road"の音そのものであるのだ。

2018年の音楽リリース状況
今年は、音楽の話題をあまり書かなかった。正直言って余り心を動かすようなリリースがなかったのがその原因だ。Led Zeppelinの結成５０周年と言っても、The Song Remains The Sameのリマスターは、目新しさはなかったし、例の大型写真集は、内容は余り新しいものはないようだし、何しろでかすぎる。しかも本は湿度に弱い。断捨離実行中の私には、手を出しずらいアイテムだった。Piterestで珍しい写真がスマ―トホンで見れる時代だ。Underground界では、929のSB音源が発掘されたりはしたが、あまり目新しさはなかった。Jimi HendrixのElectric Ladylandも内容は大したことがないうえに、またしてもLPサイズのでかさ。LPサイズのアイテムは、昨年のCrimsonのSailor's Taleで最後にしたい。そんな中で私の中で、一番のアイテムだったのは、Jimi Hendrix の Both Sides Of The Skyだ。未発表曲が満載の良好なアイテムでJimiのファンなら間違いなく楽しめる。今年唯一の収穫だった。来年以降は、６９年のRAH音源が必ずマスターテープであるはずなので、Eddie Kremar氏に期待したい。

アレサ・フランクリン死去
ソウルの女王、アレサ・フランクリンが、８月１６日膵臓がんのため、ミシガン州デトロイトの自宅で死去した。７６才だった。私が、大学生の頃、ソウルにぞっこんだった頃、Stevie Wonder とともにAretha Franklinは、（因みに英語圏ではアリーサと発音）アイドルだった。Amaizing GraceといったAtlanticからのアルバムは、ボロボロになりながらも今も所有している。
彼女は、本物のゴスペル歌手だ。最近２０年くらいからゴスペルという言葉が独り歩きしているが、彼女と数人以外はすべて、まがい物だ。軽々しくゴスペルという言葉を使わないで欲しい。197３年のAmaizing Graceというアルバムを聴くとそのことがよくわかると思う。
まさか、死ぬとは思いもしなかった。時代の経つのは本当に早い。私も年を取ったことになる。Arethaの死去は、私の死を身近に感じさせる出来事だった。
Page, Eric,Jeff,Richie,などが死去した時も強くそのことを思うだろう。
R.I.P. Aretha.

５月が終わろうとしている。５月３１日は、毎年思うことなのだけど、ブートレッグでも有名なボン誕の日だ。７０年代から、有名だ。レーベルは。TMOQ 様々なバージョンコピーが存在する。CDもあるのだけど、押し入れに段ボール梱包してあるので取り出すのが大変だ。

On March 9, Experience Hendrix and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, proudly release Both Sides of the Sky, a dynamic new Jimi Hendrix album featuring 13 studio recordings made between 1968 and 1970—10 of which have never before been released. The album will be released on multiple formats including CD, digital, and as a numbered 180 gram audiophile vinyl 2LP.
Both Sides of the Sky is the third volume in a trilogy of albums intended to present the best and most significant unissued studio recordings remaining in the music legend’s archive. Beginning with Valleys of Neptune (2010), which earned top ten sales rankings in fifteen countries (including a top position of #4 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart), followed by People, Hell and Angels (2013) which peaked on Billboard’s Top 100 album chart at #2. Billboard’s coveted number one singles ranking went to “Somewhere,” the album’s lead track and the legendary guitarist’s highest ever US singles chart achievement. This third release is anticipated to complete the spectacular recording event in epic fashion. “Since Experience Hendrix began its restoration of the Jimi Hendrix music catalog in 1997, our goal has been to present these important recordings to Jimi’s fans in the best possible quality. We are excited about achieving that. We’ve also been intent on generating album releases which present this amazing music in its proper context,” explains John McDermott, one of the album’s co-producers, together with Janie Hendrix and Eddie Kramer.

Recorded between January 1968 and February 1970, Jimi’s desire to push the boundaries of blues music can be heard throughout. Both Sides of the Sky additionally highlights Jimi’s mastery of studio production and his increasing use of these facilities as a proving ground for new sounds, material, and techniques. Many of the album’s tracks were recorded by the trio that would come to be known as Band of Gypsys: Jimi on guitar and vocals, Billy Cox on bass, and Buddy Miles on drums. For their first-ever recording session on April 22, 1969, Hendrix turned to their shared musical root, delta blues. Their previously unreleased, uptempo reworking of Muddy Waters’ “Mannish Boy” opens the album and sets the tempo for what follows. “Lover Man” was a favored Hendrix original and the guitarist was determined to realize a finished master. Previous attempts by the original Experience had yet to yield this for Hendrix but this December 1969 effort by the Band Of Gypsys — complete with its homage to the popular Batman theme song—was his strongest effort to date.
“Hear My Train A Comin’” features drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding from the original Jimi Hendrix Experience. This original blues composition had become a staple of Hendrix’s concerts. This previously unreleased April 1969 recording captured the furious power and dynamic tension that made the song so memorable. Previously unheard recordings of “Stepping Stone,” “Jungle,” “Cherokee Mist” (which features Hendrix on both electric guitar and sitar) as well as the January 1968 recording of “Sweet Angel” provide further highlights.
Both Sides of the Sky also features an assortment of notable guest musicians. Stephen Stills befriended Hendrix at the June 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. In September of 1969 Stills was invited to a Hendrix session at the Record Plant in New York. Stills burst into the session with a song Joni Mitchell had recently composed, titled “Woodstock.” Joined by Hendrix and Buddy Miles, the trio recorded this version first–months before Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released their popular rendition of Mitchell’s song. Stills would also contribute $20 Fine, an original song that featured Hendrix on multiple guitars, Mitchell on drums, Stills on organ and lead vocals and Duane Hitchings (Buddy Miles Express) on piano.
Another of the album’s unique band creations sees Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Winter on guitar, backed by Billy Cox and drummer Dallas Taylor of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. An excerpt of their rendition of Guitar Slim’s “Things I Used To Do” was initially heard as part of a 1990 nationally syndicated radio program and accompanying box set, but here it is presented in full, newly mixed by Eddie Kramer for Both Sides of The Sky. On “Georgia Blues,” Jimi is reunited with his old bandmate Lonnie Youngblood (vocals/sax) from his pre-fame days in Curtis Knight & The Squires. Briefly issued as part of the 2008 Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues series but out of print for nearly a decade, this special recording is once more available to Hendrix fans throughout the world on all audio formats.
Both Sides of the Sky was produced by Janie Hendrix, John McDermott, and Eddie Kramer. Kramer served as recording engineer on every Jimi Hendrix album made during the artist’s life. In order to preserve the integrity and continuity of the Hendrix legacy, this same team has produced every Jimi Hendrix audio and visual release since 1996.

That is also the purpose for Eddie Kramer’s involvement and his devotion to the project. He remarked, “Jimi’s true home was the studio, that’s where the music and the magic happened. He loved everything about recording and it’s been my distinct pleasure and an honor to play a part in that process both then and now.”

Led Zeppelin 1975-03-21 Seattle "Deus Ex Machina"
Led Zeppelin 1975-03-21 Seattle "Deus Ex Machina" が EVCDより、リリースされました。
1975年物のサウンドボードは、10年程前から、徐々にリリースされて来たわけですが、75年は、結構サウンドボード録音された公演が多いのには、驚かされます。音質も80年や73年のような、1st gen カセット落としのような、スカスカな音質でなく、また77年や79年の映像から落としたようなものではなく、れっきとしたSB. そして、3-21のSeattleが登場しました。この日の公演は、Jimmy Page が調子が良く、名演と言われていて、昔からオープンリールの音源が出回っていて、なかなか聴きごたえがありました。オーディエンス録音物の定番であったのですが、オーディエンス物に耳が慣れた者としては、SB物は、コンサートの雰囲気が損なわれ、多少の違和感が感じられるといったところでしょうか。しかし、究極物が出てきたなー、といったところでしょうか。聴いた感想としては、JPJのベースがオーディエンス物では、いまいち聞き取れなかったのが、はっきり聞き取れるようになったというところでしょうか。もちろんBONZOのドラムも輪郭がはっきりしてます。

YES Tales Of Topographic Oceans
YES のTales Of Topographic Oceans BLU-RAY盤を購入しました。アナログ時代から2枚組で4曲しか入っていない、いかにも70年代のプログレらしい代表的なアルバムである。高校時代は高額でなかなか買えるものではなかったが、CD時代になり購入。そして今回のブルーレイである。4枚組になり、さらにパワーアップしている。5.1Sorroundの音声は素晴らしく、また、未発表曲、未発表テイクも充実している。当時の日本語の題名は海洋地政学の物語である。こうして40年を経ても全く色褪せない70年代のプログレは、現在では再現不可能な金字塔である。マスターの状態がよい形で保存され、それをスティーブンウイルソンが素晴らしいリマスタリングとミックスを行っている。当時は、退屈に思えたがこうして改めて聴き直すと素晴らしい作品である事を再発見させてくれる。

波乱の2016年も終わろうとしています
今年（２０１６）もあと6時間ほどで終わろうとしています。
今年も、色々ありました。
やっぱり、トランプ氏がアメリカの大統領に選ばれたことは、皆さん（安倍首相も含めて）意外だったようで、これが今年の1番のニュースであったことは、異論はなさそうです。しかし、今年は、沖縄いじめが露骨だったですね。きっかけは、7月の参議院選挙で、自民党の現職の大臣でもあった島尻安伊子氏が落選した事。これで中央政府は、見せつけ的に落選の翌日に辺野古の工事を再開しています。いや、高江のヘリパッド工事だったかな？まさに現代の琉球処分的な事態になっている訳です。オスプレイの不安は、やはり近くに住んでいない限り実感できないでしょう。
あとは、ジャーナリストの安田氏の消息も気になります。政府はまた自己責任論で無視でしょうか？それは、余りに酷というものです。
相模原市のやまゆり園の事件も気になります。精神疾患が絡んでいるだけに色々な問題を含んでいます。例えば1月のスキーバスの事故の時には亡くなられた方のエピソードが新聞に載ったりしましたが、この事件では名前も公表できない。糸魚川の大火も40年前の酒田の大火を思い出させます。なぜ日本海沿いの町が。日本海沿いには、昔ながらのいい街が多くて。火元の中華料理屋さんはさぞつらいでしょう。被害者もつらいが加害者もつらい。被害者以上につらいかもしれません。
そんな中で、Jimi Hendrixの1970年のフィルモアイーストがCD化されたことは、うれしいにゅーすでした。それと、12月6日には、Tommy Bolin氏の死去から40年という節目を迎えました。

相模原市のやまゆり園の事件も気になります。精神疾患が絡んでいるだけに色々な問題を含んでいます。例えば1月のスキーバスの事故の時には亡くなられた方のエピソードが新聞に載ったりしましたが、この事件では名前も公表できない。糸魚川の大火も40年前の酒田の大火を思い出させます。なぜ日本海沿いの町が。日本海沿いには、昔ながらのいい街が多くて。火元の中華料理屋さんはさぞつらいでしょう。被害者もつらいが加害者もつらい。被害者以上につらいかもしれません。
そんな中で、Jimi Hendrixの1970年のフィルモアイーストがCD化されたことは、うれしいにゅーすでした。それと、12月6日には、Tommy Bolin氏の死去から40年という節目を迎えました。

Keith Emerson氏が自殺
Keith Emersonが自殺により死亡した。なんでも、エマーソンは右手の神経性障害に苦しんでいたようで、最近では8本の指でしかキーボードを弾くことができなかったらしい。さらに、最近は、右手の神経痛が悪化。その痛みは毎日増していったという。エマーソンは症状がさらに悪化するのを自覚していたため、うつ状態だったと情報提供者からの話として伝えている。なんか、気持ちはわかるなぁー。彼は、70年代初頭から、いや60年代から、キーボードのスーパースターで、数々の斬新で神がかりなプレイを80年ごろまでは続けていた。90年代に入ると活動は地味になっていったが、激しくピアノをパーカッションのように弾く彼にとっては、宿命ともいえる神経の病気で、最近のビデオを見ると、右手の薬指と小指はほとんど使えなかったようだ。あのグレッグレイクがKing Crimsonの栄光を捨ててまで、キースをEL&Pを結成したことは、彼がいかに、当時アグレッシブで最高のキーボードプレイヤーであったことの証であろう。
そんな彼が、去年のツアーで客からもう引退しろとか,やじを飛ばされたらしい。トップキーボーディスとの彼としては、耐えられなかったことは、容易に想像できる。
しゃれこうべみそくずし...........................................
合掌 R.I.P.
今でも、ELPのファーストアルバムは、私にとっては最高に輝き続けている。斬新そのものだ。

YES のChris Squire氏が死去
7月27日、YES のChris Squire氏が死去した。5月に白血病に罹り、ツアーの休養を宣言していた。
昨年の11月に来日した時は、危機とこわれものを完全再現、クリスも元気な所を見せていただけに、大変残念だ。クリスは、イエスの創始者であり、すべてのアルバムに参加。イエスの屋台骨を支えていただけに本当に残念。R.I.P.

Phisycal Graffity Remaster が発売
LED ZEPPELIN のPhisycal Graffity Remaster が 2月25日、発売された。
あくまで、Remasterなので、ジミヘンのようなリミックス版がよく出てくるような感動は全くないのであるが、それでも、最新の技術により多少は、音質が向上しているのは、確かである。
特筆すべきは、ボーナスの3枚めだ。こちらは、ミックスダウン前の音源だったり、初期バージョンだたりするので、ミックスダウンを繰り返した、（音楽業界でいうところのいわゆるピンポン）を最小限しかしていないので、音は正規でリリースされたものより良くなっている。
しかし、Zeppelinの本当の魅力は、ライブにあることは、ブート愛好家の間では、既知の事実なので、それほどの感動はない。しかし、Jimmy Pageは、よく昔の録音を保管していたものである。
また、今回のリマスター作業、PlantとJohnesが全く関わっていないのは、改めて、ZEPPELINは、Jimmy PageがProduceしてきたことを実感させる。Johnesは、75年にツアーに嫌気がさして、脱退をマネージャーのPeter Grantに表明したそうである。しかしこれだけの金を生むバンドをGrantが了承するはずはなかった。Johnesに長期休暇を与えることで、決着させている。

Yesのコンサートに行って来ました。
2014-11-24 東京ドームシティホールにYesのコンサートに行って来ました。
Fragile とClose to the edgeを完全再現するとのことで、4月頃にチケットを買っていたのです。
確かに、危機とこわれものといったアルバムは、高校のころLPで買ってよく聴いていたものです。
その後、90年代に川口のリリアホールでコンサートツアーを行ったり、その後も何度も来日してますが、今回はメンバーも年だし、『危機』と『こわれもの』の全曲を演奏するということで、行って来ました。曲順もアルバムどうりで初めての試みだそうです。最初は、『危機』全曲をアルバムどうり演奏。Heven&Earthからの2曲の新曲をはさみ、『こわれもの』の全曲を演奏。音の悪いCDしかでていないので、素晴らしいものになりました。Chris Squireは、物凄く元気で、YesとはSquireのバンドだと改めて認識した次第でございます。RoundaboutとHeat of Sunriseのベースは鳥肌ものでございました。それに比べ、Steve Howeは、長いコンサートツアーの疲れか、衰えが目立ちました。ミスもあったりして、手に力が入らないようで、かろうじて弾いているような感じで、ほんとハラハラしましたが、まあ全盛期と比べたらいけませんね。昨日は、アンコールでOwner of lonely heartをやったそうですが、本日は、I've seen the good people とStarship Trooper でした。Owner of lonely heartは聞きたかったけど、まあ日替わりだからしょうがないかなと。Trever Rabinの作曲した曲は、ほんとにいい。彼はPop Musicの天才作曲家です。それと今回は、会場の音が良かったです。キーボードの音はいいし、Squireのベースは、腹に響く。演奏時間2時間ジャストでしたが、満足でしたが、50代半ばになると、ロックのコンサートは、つらいなーと感じるようになりました。

GRAZ 75
Deep Purple の GRAZ 1975 が発売になった。
1975年4月3日のオーストリアのGRAZ公演が発売された。
過去にも、MarkⅢ Ｔhe Final Concerts にも何曲かが収録されていたが、今回は、全曲収録で発売された。
Burnは、MarkⅢのベストテイクといえるかもしれない。
GypsyとLady Double Dealerは、初登場である。
驚くべきは、Glennが曲間で素晴らしいMCを巻き舌気味で披露していることである。
これだけでも、十分聴く価値がある。
Ritchieも脱退を決意していたとは思えない程の出来である。
Made in Europe （ザールブリュッゲン公演）に比べると、ボーカルなんかは雑な部分があるが、これがかえって生々しいのだ。カバーデイルとグレンのコンビも中々決まっている。
まあ、Made in Eurpeは、良い演奏の部分を編集しているのが、このCDを聞くとよくわかる。
ブート好きなら、楽しめること間違いない。
無理に1枚組に纏めた為、You fool no one のドラムソロがカットされたのは、ご愛嬌。
まさに、コンサート会場にいるような雰囲気が楽しめる好盤である。

The headline in Austrian newspaper Neue Zeit said it all: ‘Deep Purple in Graz: Ein lauter Abschied [a loud farewell].’On April 3, 1975 the Mk III line-up of Purple – guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, frontman David Coverdale, bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes, keyboard player Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice – played a concert at the Liebenauer ice rink, located on the outskirts of mountaincradled Graz, Austria’s second largest city after Vienna. Enthused by Purple’s arrival in town, the local press dubbed the concert ‘das Rockereignis des Jahres [the rock event of the year]’. And it was – in more ways than one.
After Graz, Purple would play just two more shows – in Saarbrücken, Germany and Paris, France – before a disenchanted and disgruntled Blackmore left to form his new band, Rainbow. The remaining Purple members would regroup quickly with American guitarist Tommy Bolin in tow, in place of Blackmore. But that’s another story...
In order to preserve Blackmore’s final run of Mk III concerts for posterity, Purple’s managers had brought the Rolling Stones mobile recording studio over to mainland Europe It was a difficult time for the band which would seem to indicate that Purple’s Graz performance was a duffer. A dull, flaccid affair with the band going through the motions and a sense of total disconnect between the five members. Wrong of all counts. Graz 1975 is absolutely electrifying. Indeed, it has long been regarded as the holy grail of concert recordings among Mk III connoisseurs. A performance that has never been available in its entirety until now.
As soon as you feast your ears on opening track “Burn” (surely the best version of this song, ever) you know you’re in for a wild ride. And so it proves. Blackmore plays with controlled brutality – if he’s pissed off, it doesn’t show; if he’s angry, it most certainly does. The vocal interplay between Coverdale and Hughes has never sounded so good. And, of course, stalwarts Lord and Paice give it a good kicking – and then some. The tracklisting, naturally, is weighted heavily in favour of Mk III recordings, with just two songs from Purple’s previous incarnation with Ian Gillan on vocals and Roger Glover on bass: the iconic “Smoke On The Water” and the almost-as-iconic “Space Truckin’”. Still, it’s true to say that, from beginning to end, Graz 1975 showcases Purple Mk III at the absolute top – and also, ironically, at the end – of their game.
As Neue Zeit quite rightly reported in April ’75: ‘Deep Purple gaben sich wirklich Mühe ihr „Abschiedskonzert“ zu einem grandiosen Erlebnis zu steigern [Deep Purple really did make an effort to increase their “farewell concert” to a terrific experience]’.

4/5 of the band are on blistering form at this gig. Blackmore plays out of his skin on Gypsy and Mistreated. Burn and Stormbringer are incredible. However, Glenn Hughes is simply embarrassing here. His vocal 'tour de force' at the end of Smoke On The Water is painful to listen to and not content with that, he whoops his way through not one but two dreadful vocal solo sections in Space Trucking. Glenn is a great singer and musician, but at this time in his life he was on another planet. It's a great shame as this gig would have had 5 stars from me if it wasn't for his cringeworthy screaming and whooping- and of course the 'cut' drum solo on You Fool No One.

Although these were the last gigs by the band in their Mk3 incarnation and they were strangers to each other by that point, it's a great gig. Hughes bass playing along with Paice's drumming is superb, Blackmore while good isn't quite as good as other gigs on this last tour, but Lord, as ever, is faultless and Coverdale holds it together. However, not for the first time, I disagree with the sleeve notes on a Deep Purple by Geoff Barton. This CD does not have the best version ever of 'Burn', That title goes to the version on the originally released version on 'Made in Europe'

Hello, all opinions are worthwhile and all add value ... it just puzzles me that some longtime fans of MK III rated this Austrian gig so low (1 star...) - As far as I am concerned, it's truly a hell of a performance, especially Ian Paice's tight drumming as dictating the "night rules" ... and keeping all together ... in some moments, all the band is coming out truly well, and just for the version of Burn (top notching!) the CD is worth buying.
What I do not like is the fact this is a SINGLE CD (so the show is NOT complete...) & surely enough cutting Paice's drum solo out from "You Fool no One" was a deed not to be done ... Then, the sound is very good and the feeling of an untouched live performance (as it came out ... with lights and shades) is something to be appreciated ...

川口駅にボストン降臨
川口駅にボストン降臨！
といっても、広告の話です。
３４年前は、大人気でお風呂屋さんの壁絵にも描かれたほどですが、さすがに８年に一回のアルバムペースや、メインボーカリストの死、趣味の多様性などで、苦戦している様です。昔はプレイガイドであっという間に完売でした。

ソウル・レジェンド、ボビー・ウーマック氏、死去
Bobby Womack氏が亡くなった。（6/27/2014)
前立腺癌やアルツハイマー病を患っていたらしい。
ショックである。
彼には、若いころ思い出がある。
1980年から198１年頃ソウルにはまっていたころ（つまりLed Zeppelinが解散し、Hard Rock がOld Wave と呼ばれていた頃）
私は、当時、六本木の外れのほうにあったSoul Embassyという黒人しか殆ど来ないDiscoによく行っていた。 (東京都港区六本木7-18-15 渡辺ビル2階)
当時,FENなんかでよくかかっていたのが、Bobby Womackの The Poetというアルバム。
そこの黒人のDJのにいちゃんに彼の曲をリクエストしたっけ。
彼は、その曲はバラードでこの店には合わないと最初は言っていたけど、
とうとう、根負けしてかけてくれたんだよね。
その曲がかかるのは、みんながいなくなる午前3時ごろだった。
ちなみにこのお店は80年代中頃に閉店したそうである。
30数年前の古い古いお話である。
